SAGIT will inject $3 million in funding to 26 projects in 2017 following a record number of applications for research funding. Topics are as diversease as the use of drones, frost management, nitrogen-use efficiency, copper management, molecular selection for heat stress tolerance in peas to Khapra beetle extension and a cereal aphid risk assessment.

SAGIT funded 22 new projects in 2016-17 in topics including crop nutrition, soil health, herbicide use and improving weed control with a total value of $2.3 million.
In addition, SAGIT allocated funding to grower groups who are members of the Ag Excellence Alliance to cover costs associated with hosting guest speakers.

SAGIT funded 15 new projects in 2015-16, taking the total number of projects currently receiving SAGIT funding to 51. The new investment totals $2.19 million.
SAGIT funded 20 new projects in 2014-15 investigating solutions specific to issues faced by SA grain growers. The investment totals $2.14 million, which is in addition to the $6 million of projects that are continuing from investments made in earlier years.
